WILMINGTON – South Dearborn softball got off to a bad start that it couldn’t afford in Tuesday’s 3-1 Class 3A regional loss to No. 5 North Harrison.

Facing a solid Lady Cats team that came in at 25-5, SD (18-11) fell behind 2-0 in the top of the second inning and 3-0 in the third on an extremely muggy night atop Wilmington Hill.

Held to four hits in total by North Harrison senior right-hander Miranda Whelan (seven innings, one earned run, six strikeouts, three walks) – she struck out the SD side in both the first and third innings - Lady Knights still had some chances to climb back late.
